Mental Health Workshop

Did you know that 18% of adults in the United States (about 14 million persons) have a mental health condition?

Severe depression in youth has increased from 5.9% to 8.2% over the past 5 years. Would you know what to do if you saw sign of depression and suicide?

Mental health impacts many people in our congregation and community. This workshop will provide you with tools to help your family member, coworker, or friend who may be showing signs of emotional distress.

We will be presenting information and practical tools to assist people in:

// Understanding mental illness and the effects of stress
// Identifying the need for emotional support
// Identifying signs of potential self-harm
// Knowing How to Help

Free Health Screenings!

Health screenings can make us aware of health risk factors. They can reveal certain behaviors or physical conditions that put us at risk for disease. Risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure or obesity can lead to heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.

The Bethel Health & Wellness Ministry will offer FREE health screenings, referrals, education and a 20 minute heart health seminar on Sunday, February 25, 2018 during American Heart Month.

Brain Power!

Brain Power is a community health fair featuring brainy activities for all ages! Coinciding with Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month, it will comprise educational seminars, screenings and activities related to brain health, nutrition, exercise, martial arts, yoga, mental wellness, stress management, brainy games for memory and thinking skills, and sleep hygiene. In addition, we will "go purple" and host a cookout fundraiser for "The Longest Day" to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Disease in partnership with the Alzheimer's Association.

Spring Cleaning Health Seminar

Join board-certified internist, Dr. Carmelle Norice-Tra, to learn why and how to limit processed foods and unhealthy additives.

This FREE event will feature family fitness followed by a seminar on clean eating. There will be kid's nutrition education as well. We plan to have a check-in table in the Hall of Nations to sign attendees in and direct them to the fitness or seminar.
