Recap: 2016 Community Health and Wellness Fair

This year, we were blessed to build upon our church’s history of meeting health and wellness needs with the 2016 Community Health & Wellness Fair. To the glory of GOD, the event was a success. Well over 200 people of all ages attended, a third of whom were guests from the community!

With the help of our exhibitors and sponsors, we provided the following free services:

  • Over 80 blood tests including blood sugar, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, cholesterol and HIV
  • Over 135 blood pressure checks and body mass index (BMI) screens * Free health food tastings, exercise demos, health food and fitness class giveaways, face painting
  • Health & wellness education, including Bible-based
  • Referrals to community healthcare sites that accept low-income and uninsured patients

Our surveys showed:

  • 94% of attendees rated the fair as ‘excellent/above average’
  • 100% of exhibitors rated the management of the fair as ‘excellent’
  • 29% of attendees indicated ‘I found affordable healthcare for my family’
  • 65% of attendees indicated ‘I will improve my eating and exercise habits’
